The U.S. Institute of Peace is holding the National Peace Essay Contest for students in grades 9-12.  The topic for 2010-2011 is governance, corruption, and conflict.  Each first-place state winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and be invited to attend the awards program in Washington, D.C. with all expenses paid.  All state winners will compete in the national contest where the first-place winner will receive $10,000; the second-place winner $5,000; and the third-place winner will receive $2,500.  Entries must be received by February 1, 2011.  For more information visit
