Educate & Empower Youth Through Game Making:
Leveling Up from Player to Designer
Friday, June 24th, 4pm Eastern Time
Would you like to tap into the natural passion of students for both playing and making games to teach critical 21st Century skills like problem solving, interactive design, creativity, collaboration, and systems thinking?
Join Alan Gershenfeld and Scott Price from e-Line Media to explore the ecosystem of game creation tools, the difference between teaching game design and game programming, best practices for building interest-driven pathways from elementary school to college, and ideas for connecting game design to core curriculum. The session will demonstrate the power of game design for building a strong motivation for STEM as well.
Alan and Scott also will share some of their experiences running the Gamestar Mechanic platform, a middle school focused game design curriculum, game, and community that was launched last fall in partnership with the Institute of Play and is currently being used in over 600 schools.
Join this new program that provides free monthly webinars offering a variety of perspectives on game-based learning by inviting participation from a wide variety of stakeholders. The webinars will be followed by a live chat and ongoing discussions in the edWeb social networking community on Game-Based Learning. This will be a lively and stimulating series. All webinars will be recorded and archived in the community. CEU credits are provided.
