American Experience's Freedom Riders premiered on PBS in mid May and now you can download the study guide written by Facing History and Ourselves as well as a host of resources to teach about this revolutionary step in the battle for civil rights. From May until November 1961, more than 400 black and white Americans risked their lives - and many endured savage beatings and imprisonment - for simply traveling together on buses and trains as they journeyed through the Deep South.
