The Junior League of Long Island, a volunteer organization that I belong to, is trying to promote volunteerism with children.  “The Littlest Volunteer” contest, based on the book by the same name, is asking elementary school aged children to write in no more than 10 sentences, what they’d do with $100 to help others.  Based on their responses, two Long Island children (one in Nassau county, and another in Suffolk county) will be awarded $100 to help them in getting their volunteer project started.  Details about the contest, which runs until October 24th, can be found on the Junior League of Long Island website - http://www.jlli.org
